It's their birthday or anniversary. She watched your kids for a weekend. He helped you get your car started. Bottom line: You'd like to do something nice for them. Something they'll really use and enjoy.

Problem is, while you know they like photography, or stamp collecting or football, you don't know anything about that stuff. What does someone who loves chocolate want, specifically? What's a nice thing to do for a Marine on active duty?

Find out. Each page covers a particular hobby, interest or activity. You'll find information and ideas on what they do, what they like and what they need assembled with the help of someone actively involved in that activity.

Inspiring People

Spousal Sponsorship Program is about appreciating others and the things they enjoy. Some people are especially good at this, and we find them inspiring.

Mike Rowe

Mike Rowe is the host of Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs. This show explores the dirtiest jobs they can find, from the inside. While some shows might poke fun at people with dirty jobs, or look down on them, this show makes it clear that the people who do these jobs are smart, skilled and more than worthy of respect and appreciation. While the show's creators certainly get much credit for this attitude, it doesn't work if the host doesn't pull it off. Mike Rowe's humble and appreciative approach to dirty jobs and the people who do them makes this show a pleasure to watch. Thanks, Mike!

Tim Gunn

Tim Gunn of Bravo's Project Runway is living proof that being nasty to other people in the name of "constructive criticism" is entirely a matter of choice. When he talks to the competing designers, he is honest, blunt and often unstintingly negative about the designs. Yet, he manages to deliver his comments without tearing people down personally and with tremendous sense that he is coming from a position of being on the designer's side and wanting them to do as well as they possibly can. Anyone who thinks that a bit of success or power means that it is no longer worth their time to be considerate needs to spend some time with Tim Gunn. It doesn't have to be that way and we love seeing a person who can be gracious and kind without ever pulling his punches. Thanks, Tim!
